POLYMERS IN THE TREATMENT OF PERIODONTAL DISEASES. A LITERATURE REVIEW

Authors: Mehrnaz KARIMI AFSHAR, Susan TORABI PARIZI

Abstract:

Periodontal disease is one of the most common causes of tooth loss in adults. The current methods used to treat or prevent periodontal disease are based on the control of the underlying factors that restore the periodontal tissue, but rarely regenerate periodontal ligaments and alveolar bones. The present study reviews biodegradable polymers, their types and role in the treatment of periodontal disease.
