Abstract:

The major salivary glands consist structurally of
a parenchyma (a secretory tissue and some
secretion and excretion ducts) and a stroma (among
the parenchymatous structures); they are covered
by a fibrous conjunctive capsule at the periphery,
from which the septa arise, that divide the gland in
lobes, and the interior of each lobe is divided in
lobuli. Sanguine and lymphatic vessels, nerves,
destined mainly to the parenchyma, pass through
the thickness of the connective septa.
