THE RELATION BETWEEN THE WRITING-READING DISORDERS AND HEMISPHERIC DOMINATION

Authors: Georgeta Burlea, Catalina Giovana Palaghia

Abstract:

The correct writing-reading involves a functional integration of the two hemispheres, meaning that the total must be greater than the parts’ sum; the left hemisphere controls the language and the semiotic function; the right hemisphere handles the symbols and codes under the form of automatic and non-conscious activities.
The most efficient scheme of dominance implies a total coherence. The person possessing “right brain” will use the left hand, eye and ear, while the type “left brain” will use the right hand, eye and ear.
When this coherence exists the two hemispheres easy harmonize themselves and collaborate and remaining active allow in this way the bilateral integration.
The writing-reading activities are tasks of left hemisphere exclusive type and their teaching implies the following domination scheme: left hemisphere – right hand – right eye – right ear.
