Abstract:

The aim of the study was the identification of the success rates of implants coated with hydroxyapatite on a period of 3 -6 years from the implantation. Material and methods: A total of 150 functional implants in 28 patients were evaluated. The length of distribution of the implants was of 8 mm (4,5%), 10 mm (30,4%), 13 mm (33,2%) and 15 mm (33,9%). The diameter was 3,25 mm (55,1) and 4 mm (4,5%). The depth of peri-implanar pockets, the height of the keratinized gingival and the recessions were measured. Peri-apical radiographs were realized for estimating the level of crestal bone resorbtion. Only the implants which fulfilled all the established criteria were considered successful, all the other implants being considered as unsuccessful. Results: The maintenance rate of the implants at 3 and 6 years, respectively was of 93,2% and 91,4%. The success rate of the implants was of 86,5% and 63,4, respectively. The implants with lengths of 13 and 15 mm had the highest maintenance rate, compared to the implants of 8 and 10 mm with lower maintenance rates. The height of the keratinized gingival and the recessions showed similar scores for all groups. A correlation between the successful and the unsuccessful implants was observed and the depth of the peri-implantar pockets was observed. Conclusions: A difference between the maintenance and the success rate was observed on long term. The implant length and diameter exercises a influence on the success rate and the maintenance, the same as the clinical parameters.
