Abstract:

The correlations between macroscopical aspects and radiographic images allow a deep knowledge about inflammatory external root resorptions. Our study assessed 105 teeth, designated to extractions, through radiograph exam and visual inspection. On radiograph images were identified three types of root resorptions: incipient, moderate (medium) and severe. We found prevalence values as follows: 5.71% incipient apical resorption, 7.61% medium apical resorptions, 4.76% severe apical resorptions. The sensibility values for radiograph exam to apical root resorptions diagnostic: severe apical resorptions – 100%; medium apical resorptions – 89%; incipient apical resorptions – 66%.
