Abstract:

In the beginning of the 19th century there are few medical writings that contain information related to the field of dentistry. From this point of view, there wole of dentist I. Seliger, “Povatuire pentru curatirea gurii si pastrarea dintilor” (1829), wich has the qualities of a scientific paper, is considered the first code in the field of dentistry. Other document contain very few information regarding the dental diseases and their corresponding treatment. Mention should be made of two codes meant to popularize the science: G. Vinetchi, “Învatatura pentru multe mestesuguri” (1825) and “Povatuitorul sanatatii”, a Moldavian periodical published under the supervision of
C. Varnav. In these writings the medical prescriptions for different dental diseases contain mainly remedies based on plant or some substances derived from minerals and animals. The vocabulary used in these medical prescriptions is mainly of popular origin.
