CORRELATION BETWEEN DENTAL FLUOROSIS AND CARIOUS LESIONS

Abstract:

The aim of the study was to asses the relationship between caries experience and the presence of dental fluorosis and between caries experience and the severity of dental fluorosis. Materials and methods. 206 children from Pârlita, Moldova Republic were examined. They were spit în 2 groups: the first group included children with dental caries and fluorosis, the second one children with dental caries,
but without dental fluorosis. Caries experience was assesed and the data were statistical analysed. Results and discussions. The prevalence of dental fluorosis was 29,6%. The prevalence of dental caries increased significantly with the presence of dental fluorosis, but the association between dental caries and the severity of dental fluorosis was statistical unsignificant. Conclusions. Dental fluorosis influences the presence of carious lession, but the number of the lessions is not in relation with the severity of dental fluorosis.
