Abstract:

A comparative analysis of the hybrid layer in class I, mechanically and kinetically-LASER prepared cavities, restored with 3 glass ionomer modified resin (RMG) materials was performed by scanning microscopy.
Materials and method: The group under investigation includes 30 teeth, randomly divided into three equal groups (Gr.), to which class I cavities had been made, as ollows: Gr.1(n=10) mechanically-prepared cavities, at high rotation, obturated with VitremerTMTri-Cure GISystem(3MESPE), Gr.2(n=10) – mechanically-prepared cavities, at high rotation, obturated with VitrebondTM (3MESPE) and Gr.3(n=10) kinetically LASER prepared cavities obturated with VitrebondTM(3MESPE).
Results and discussion: Analysis of the hybrid layer put into evidence significant p=0.05, with average values of the hybrid layer size of 1.84 mGr.1, 14.1m-Gr.2 and 17.2mGr.3, respectively.
Conclusions: The value of the hybrid layer size has been influenced by the method of cavity preparation, as well as by the type of applied RMGI
