Abstract:

The prosthetic treatment is part of the general plan of medical treatment application, namely its individualization in a bio-psycho-social context. The difficulty of establishing a specific/individualized prosthetic treatment lies in the perfect harmony that should be attained between the anatomic and functional – occlusal, articular and muscular – determinants. Each determinant individualizes the situation by its normal conformation and, later on, by the modifications induced by wear. Accordingly, individualized rehabilitation should strictly observe certain markers and correlate them with the direction of the modifications, so that the dental prosthesis should be morpho-functionally and biologically integrated into the components forming the stomatognate system.
