Authors: Sanaa N. AL-HAJ ALI

Abstract:

Aim. To review the performance of luting cements, reported to be used with primary teeth preformed crowns, and to determine their clinical evidence. Materials and methods. In July, 2019, a literature search by means of PubMed and by manually searching English medical journals using fourteen search terms was performed. The resultant lists of articles were manually searched for clinical studies which matched the inclusion criteria. Because of the low number of relevant clinical studies, the search was broadened to include in vitro studies, which assessed microleakage and the retentive strength of luting cements used with primary teeth preformed crowns. Results and discussion. 12 in vivo and 12 in vitro studies were included in the analysis. Glass ionomer cement was the most investigated luting cement in the included studies. Conclusions. available evidence is limited, yet it suggests that glass ionomer cement can stand as the most clinically recommended luting cement for primary teeth preformed crowns.
