Abstract:

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different intraoral polishing methods on surface roughness and fracture load of hybridand resin nanoceramics. Rectangular blocks (1,2×12×10 mm) of Enamic, and Lava Ultimate materials were sliced with 1,2mm-thickness. Polishing with the ceramics’ own polishing procedure, a series of sof-lex polishing discs, and shofu abrasive stones were used. Mean Surface Roughness (Ra) of the specimens was recorded by a tactile profilometer initially and after polishing. Fracture Load (N) was recorded with an Universal Testing Machine. Data was statistically analyzed with two-way ANOVA (α=0.05). Enamic and Lava specimens in the group polished with own’s polishing procedure have shown lowest surface roughness values that were not statistically different from each other. Polishing with Sof-lex, and Shofu may be used instead of ceramics’ own polishing procedure for hybrid and resin nanoceramics for fracture loading
