Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the amount of urethane dimethacrylate (UDMA) released from resin nano ceramic (Lava Ultimate) and hybrid ceramic materials (Cerasmart and VITA Enamic). 20 specimens (5x5x1mm) were prepared from each tested material (N=60). Each material group was divided into two main subgroups: polished or non-polished. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis was used to analyze the amount of UDMA released for every time period (1h, 24h, or 72h). Data was analyzed using three-way ANOVA and Tukey’s tests. There were no statistically significant differences among the materials or between procedures (p>0.05), but statistically significant differences among the amounts of released UDMA during different time periods (p<0.05). The highest amount of UDMA released was recorded within 1h, and the lowest – within 72h (p<0.05). Resin-ceramic materials showed UDMA release along all time periods. Polishing did not affect the amount of UDMA released from the materials.
