Every patient wants to have a beautiful smile, so that, to meet such aesthetic demands, the dentist applies specific rules. The aim of the present paper is to verify whether the
rule of proportion of tooth width in the frontal area applies to our type of population. The Golden proportion, recurring aesthetic dental (RED) proportion, and the Golden
percentage were calculated, then compared with the known standard values. Statistical analysis was performed by using the t-test, the paired t-test and the General Linear
Model. We consider that the results of our study group do not meet the Golden proportion, the RED proportion and the standard Golden percentage. A modified Golden percentage with 24% for the central incisor and 11% for the canine width can be used as standards for our study group. The standard values used in dental aesthetics are not applicable to all population groups.
