THE USE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES FOR MANUFACTURING OF DENTAL PROSTHETIC WORK IN ROMANIA

Authors: Mona IONAŞ

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to measure the current status of the introduction of digital techniques for performing dental prosthetic work in Romania and meeting the educational requirements in this field. A 7-question questionnaire filled in by doctors and dental technicians showed a percentage of 85.97% of the dentists and 83.63% of the dental technicians use digital dental technologies to a very low extent. Moreover, only 57.99% of the respondents are familiar with the digital technology, the most popular being the milling process. This shows that concentrated academic and business efforts are needed to offer training courses in the field of digital technology. Considering how rapidly and profoundly the current digital revolution advances, it is necessary to design flexible systems allowing an education curriculum which complies with the latest technological level in real time.
