Abstract:

Conventional technologies applied for obtaining full dentures are still widely used in practice, due to their advantages: low cost, easy working method, oral rehabilitation in acceptable conditions, well-tolerated by patients. The main disadvantage of these prostheses is their poor stability, especially after a longer period of time. Therefore, a prior application of implants at the level of the prosthetic area favors better retention and optimal stability, ensuring the longevity of these prosthetic appliances. The present study follows the steps of oral rehabilitation of a completely edentulous mandible, choosing as a treatment solution an implant supported fixed prosthesis, using the All-on-4 system. An infrastructure of Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK) was realized on these implants, to which zirconia crowns were then applied, and fixed by adhesive cementation. Screw-on removable dental bridges provide extra safety over cemented bridges, while allowing access to the implant. This aggregation mode also allows optimizations or repairs on the prosthesis, when the clinical situation requires it. The choice of prosthesis for a case of complete edentulism using the version fixed on the implant support is much more functional and better accepted by patients. Implant bridges optimally restore the morphological parameters and re-establish very well the functions altered by edentation.
