Abstract:

Introduction. In conventional dentistry, the treatment options for vestibular white spot lesions (WSL) or incipient proximal caries are limited. In this regard, dental practitioners’ opinions are divided: noninvasive (secondary prophylaxis: topical fluoridation, regular check-ups) or invasive approach (composite filling, veneers). The aim of the present study is to assess the treatment methods of the incipient caries lesions used by dentists in Romania. Materials and methods: in 2016 and in 2022, questionnaires were distributed to dentists working in private practices. Results and discussion: the responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Conclusions: resin infiltration (a minimally invasive therapy) is theoretically known among dentists, yet it is a rarely used procedure, even though in six years this technique gained more recognition.
