Salvia rosmarinus, is a medicinal plant from the Lamiaceae family. Also known by the popular name of rosemary, it is traditionally used for its aromatic and culinary qualities. Recent research has uncovered several promising benefits of this plant for oral health. Rosemary contains a variety of bioactive compounds, including essential oils (EOs), antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory agents, which may help maintain oral health, freshen breath, and prevent common oral diseases. Among the main phytochemicals in rosemary, niacin, thiamine, folate, camphor, and rosmarinic acid may help improve eye health, regulate liver function, and reduce the risk of asthma.
