Occlusal ball- and cap-supported overdentures represent a prosthetic solution if minimum two teeth are involved. The purpose of the study is to qualitatively and quantitatively assess the condition of abutment teeth after attaching occlusal ball-retained overdentures. The quantitative assessment of overdentures attachment results took into account the dental plaque index, the abutment teeth mobility and the periodontal pocket depth in different stages of the treatment. The qualitative assessment of results was based on overdentures’ aesthetic aspect, as established by the patient. In the present study, dental mobility variation was not considered significant, the periodontal pockets depth decreasingd significantly in time, alongwith a significant decrease in the dental plaque index. Patient’s satisfaction remained almost constant along the whole duration of the study. The studied system is having a positive evolution in time, in the patients in whom implant-supported dentures are not an option.
