In forensic practice, the expression “medical care days” represents an indicator of traumatic severity and not an actual account of the days of medical care the victim needed. The forensic dento-alveolar balance sheet can often be equivocal, the cases being frequently represented by complex and associated lesions which, in the light of individual reactivity and a pre-existing pathological background, can considerably modify the evolution and healing of the injury. The present literature review aims at highlighting the importance of the accuracy of dental and forensic examination in the circumstances of a trauma of minimal intensity in the buco-maxillo-facial region, with a brief focus on the issue of the medical care days required.
