Authors: Maria Rodica Prodan, Gabriel Nistor, Mariana Condrea, Cristian Mârtu

Abstract:

The authors present the current possibilities of paroxysmal facial pain (PFP) assessment in light of the new clinical diagnosis criteria specified in the “International
classification of headache disorders”, II edition (2004), as well as the current possibilities of neuroimaging and laboratory investigations. The essential aspects related to positive and differential diagnoses, as well as current possibilities of pharmacodynamic/surgical treatment are discussed. The significance of interdisciplinary collaboration in solving PFP pathology is emphasized.
