DENTAL ANXIETY. MECHANISMS AND EFFECTS

Abstract:

Nowadays, dental anxiety has become a challenge for both patients and dental professionals faced with patients’ frequent fear reactions. This complex phenomenon is a major topic of interest in recent research, that aims at investigating the factors which trigger and influence the continuity of dental anxiety. Consequently, the etiology of dental fear has been discussed from various viewpoints, including those related to socioeconomic status and culture, so that we integrated specific aspects related to the environment and to parents’ behavioral repertoire that can affect the complexity of this phenomenon.
