Abstract:

Aims The objective of present trial was to assess the effect of an EDTA gel (Pref-gel) applied during surgical periodontal therapy.
Matherials and methode Applied EDTA gel (Prefgel) during surgical periodontal therapy and non-surgical periodontal therapy and evaluation on probing reduction and periodontal attachment gain. For comparision, citric acid treatment and control surgery only were included.
Results and discution: Periodontitis-affected root surfaces are hypermineralized and contaminated with cytotoxic and other biologically active substances. Such
surfaces are not biocompatibile with adjacent periodontal cells, the proliferation of which is essential for periodontal wound healing.
